What we are learning from the coronavirus pandemic

Life as we knew it has certainly changed. At least for now. We are dealing with a new normal as business owners, as leaders, as family members. Today, the KimbleCo team takes time to share what we are learning, right beside you, as we navigate times during a pandemic. We hope our thoughts provide you with support to know we’re going through the same and, that even in times like these, we can look for the positive.

“I know that it is an optimal time to consider and ponder my life and how I live it and I am trying to take advantage of that. My goal is to be full of gratitude and thankful for the many blessings in my life and to take action to help others. I am thankful that our family remains healthy. I am so thankful that our Manhattan-based son happened to be in Minneapolis-St. Paul six weeks and ago and never returned to New York City. I am ever so thankful for the beautiful weather at this time that has allowed us to be outside – to get fresh air and exercise. I am thankful for our clients and continuing business.

But also, like so many, I sometimes ride the rollercoaster of hope and anxiety. I can waiver between common sense thinking and panic. I must rely daily – no, minute by minute – on my faith. On my knowledge and belief of Who is in control despite how everything appears.

During this time, my hope for all of you is continued health; both physical and mental, and, hope for the future.”

- Julie Kimble, CEO

“These last 6 weeks have been a whole new experience for most of us. For me, having a grade schooler and a middle schooler distance learning while my husband and I both work along with two dogs who aren’t sure what is happening all at home makes for an interesting, sometimes humorous and sometimes incredibly frustrating time. However, we are slowly settling into the situation and mostly we are thankful for our ability to continue to work, for ours and our friends and families health, and for the ability to get out for a walk on a nice day when time permits.

One of the reasons I love working in commercial real estate is that there is always something new to learn. I have been in this industry over 20 years and at first I was apprehensive about the ‘unknown’ – I have been through economic downturns. Yet in the past several weeks I have been soaking it in, creating and sharing so many innovative thoughts, ideas and suggestions for bringing everyone back to work and life in general in a safe way. Really switching my thoughts to the unbelievable opportunity we have to make things better for everyone has been so wonderful!”

“This experience over the past couple of months has provided me a quick reminder as to where my priorities are. As a family we have enjoyed slowing down and spending time reconnecting. Our ‘project’ is going through all the Marvel movies in story order and we have done more puzzles in the last 3 months than we have in a decade. We also enjoy finding creative ways to support our neighborhood small businesses through restaurant take out, the local butcher, and curbside pick-up for retail goods.

It has also served as a good reminder to make sure to take your mental health breaks and respect each other’s need to do the same. Whether it is stopping for a breath of fresh air and listening to the birds, or an impromptu dance party with the dogs in the kitchen. Take a break without judgement, we all need that reminder sometimes.

The leadership and level of trust and communication within our company has been one of my pillars of strength as we all navigate uncharted territory. I am so grateful to work with a team that is supportive, motivating and driven to understand the facts before reacting to the situation handed to us. One day at a time . . .”
